This component was previously manufactured by machining a brass round bar, drilling holes, and creating a semi-cylindrical (“kamaboko”) shape.
By redesigning the product and converting the process to stainless steel press forming, Kyoshin achieved a 20% cost reduction compared with the conventional manufacturing method.
The process maintains an inner diameter tolerance of ±0.03 mm while producing a clean round hole with no rollover. Tool life was improved through the optimization of die materials, forming lubricants, and process design.
